Hi SERBIAN,

I have a problem with a movie (downloaded) which is in the following format (from the QuickTime Info window):

H.264, 1280 x 528, 16,7 Mill.
AAC, 5.1 (C L R Ls Rs LFE), 48,000 kHz

With the "DVDPAL Cine" preset I wanted to make a MPEG2 file. My poor iMac worked hard (and many hours on it an finally I've received the common .mp2, .m2v and .mpg files. I have also a .srt file for this movie with German subtitles.

The .mpg file has the following data (QT Info window):

MPEG2 Muxed, 720 x 326 Pixel

and from the MPEG-Info in your app:

Mpeg 2 Program Stream File [Video/Audio]
Muxrate : 4.85 Mbps
Estimated Duration: 22:59.63s
Aspect ratio 2.21/1 (Cinema)
Interlaced, chroma format: 4:2:0
Video Format: PAL
Size [720 x 384] 25.00 fps 4.50 Mbps
Audio : Mpeg 1 layer 2
224 kbps 48000 Hz
Stereo, No emphasis

I then added the subtitles to the .mpg as it is described in your tutorial. So far no problems.

After that I wanted to author a DVD with "DVD Authoring" in MPEG2Works. The resulting DVD has the aspect ratio 4:3 I played it with the DVDPlayer.app), but without the black bars. The picture is simply compressed in the width.

What did I wrong? Do you have any ideas?

Regards

Andreas

you havent done anything wrong...Check the one of the large VOB file inside VIDEO_TS folder with MPEG Info button...If it gives correct aspect ratio all is fine..If you are unsure that your standalone DVD play will play that with auto blacbars adding then encode the movie again under Cine section...My app will add the blackbars and encode it in 16:9 aspect...Not all the DVD player will handle cinemascope aspect without black bars...

WOW!

Thank you for your quick answer. I think I had to apologize for my dumb question, because I didn't look carefully enough into your app, as I should. I always knew, that there was a possibility to encode WITH black bars, but I didn't find it.

Sorry for disturbing your weekend

Best regards

Andreas
