Q:
Hi there, I'm new to all this mpeg encoding stuff and am wondering
if you could give me a few pointers on how to convert a DVD to VCD.
I have the main VOB files for the movie decoded on my HD, from there
it's all a mystery.
Hope you can help or maybe you could point me to some web sites
that explain the process.
A:
OK...Here You go...
First download my app..:))....Then You should rip Your DVD with
OSEx to get the VOB...If You did that the next is piece of cake...with
my app of course..:)
Just choose from DVD/SVCD tab PAL or NTSC...Then choose VOB >
SVCD 4:3 or 16:9...That is aspect ratio of an image...If the image
of Your VOB when You play it is like a square You should use 4:3...After
that be patient...VOB will be reencoded in SVCD (Super Video CD,
which is much better then VCD and it also plays in standalone VCD
or DVD players)...When my app finishes Youll get 3 files: Audio,
Video and muxed MPEG with .mpg extension....MPEG file You can play
on Your comp...With other 2 files use "Sizzle" app (find
it on Versiontracker) and make Toast burnable SVCD image...After
burning play it in Your external DVD player...
Q:
Hey Serbian,
I ran your app for the first time today, and am getting a applescript
error that says it can't find any audio in the VOB (make an NTSC
SVCD from a DVD VOB). The VOB has audio in it when i play it in
VLC. Any ideas?
A:
Ya...It is probbably AC3 sound that makes the trouble...Choose one
of the VOB > SVCD scripts.....You have to rip VOB to HDD first..
Q:
thanks. :)
now, if the vob is one of several parts on the dvd, how can i join
them all as mp2s and m2vs before i make the svcd?
A:
Rip DVD with "0SEx 0.0110a1" by choosing longest title
under "title" button, one audio track under "Aud"
button, subtitle off and under "fmt" button choose "Prog.streams"...Youll
get one BIG VOB file...Then choose one of VOB > SVCD scripts
depending on screen aspect and resolution of DVD You ripped....and
be patient..:)
Q:
Hi. I just saw your mpeg2works program for OS X. I'm very new to
video. I'm trying to find a way to convert Quicktime movies to VCD.
Is this what mpeg2works will do? If not, would you please help me
to understand what your program does? Also, what program (if not
yours) could I use to convert a Quicktime movie to VCD? Thank you
VERY much for any help you can give me.
A:
Of course it will do...You have options to convert Your movie to
VCD, SVCD and DVD ready MPEGs...SVCD is much better quality then
VCD and it also plays in standalone DVD players...You have to know
that Your movie must have sound to properly convert to VCD/SVCD/DVD...
VCD making can be done under VCD tab in my app with VCD PAL or VCD
NTSC scripts...After that find "VCD Builder" app on Versiontracker
and make Yourself burnable CD with files my app produced...
Q:
A musician/promoter friend has asked me to make a VHS tape from
a VCD (made in Windows)...I thought I could import it into Final
Cut Express and then Print to Tape...but it's muxed, and I can't
seperate the sound and video...It plays in QT, but loses the sound
when saved from it...How can I UnMux it and then get it into my
editor...
A:
Just use bundled Export2DV application...
Q:
I've a problem wen I try to encode a .mov file without audio: the
program crashes and I've to 'force quit'. It's .mov that I've create
with Keynote, to show with a normal dvd/VCD/SVCD player. Is there
any way to encode with your soft this kind of .mov?
A:
Navigate under "Custom" section and encode it there...
Q:
Hi serbian,
First, really nice work and a very useful app. I read in the read
me you tested with 20 different formats, bang, the first one i tried
failed :-) XVID 640x480, audiocodec:framecopy...
The problem is that mpeg2 works cannot detect the audio (nor did
any other app i tried). I had to run divx doctor first on that file,
then it worked with mpeg2 works.
A:
DivX is one heavy format...Especially audio part...You are right
about audio...My app cannot detect framecopy audio...But any other
in Divx files can /mp3,wav,pcm...
Q:
Hello,
I have used your app, and have had success where I didnt elsewhere!
I have been searching for a tool like this to convert a lot of NTSC
cartoons to PAL... And FFmpeg seemed to have problems... But yours
works...nearly! My problem is when I convert a long mpeg1 movie
to dvd, all I get is a .m2v file, no audio, and no mpeg! Using the
mpeg1-mpeg2 in vcd section works... But of course only makes a 60
min mpeg and loses the rest. Is there a way round my problem.
A:
Navigate to "ReplayTV" section and convert Your files
there, with the appropriate preset button...
Q:
I purchased my 1st DVD recorder console, a Pan DME-100H. It is a
pretty amazing machine with a 120gig drive,DVD-RAM, and DVD-R dubbing
routines. I downloaded (for a fee) READDVD for OSX from Software
Architects and "viola" the files on the DVD-RAM cartridge
appear on the OSX desktop. What I have is a folder with a VR_MANGR.BUP
, VR_MANGR.IFO , and lastly a VR_MOVIE.VRO . The MOVIE file opens
and plays nicely with audio in VLAN (almost everything seems to
open in VLAN) but not in Quicktime or DVD Player, and it won't import
into DVD Studio Pro or FCP. It won't append. I am going to try to
import back to OS9 and try my old GREAT VIDEO conversion utility.
Does anyone have any insight here? And the D+ thing, I think it
sucks but I'll live without it.
A:
Choose "Demultiplex VOB/VRO with AC3 sound" under "Mux/demux"
tab on "Tools" menu and please let me know what happened...
Reply:
Wow! Your resultant mpg video & AC3 audio files imported directly
into DVDSP and previewed clearly and in synch right away! In case
no one has read the posts leading up to this... Dub your recorded
files off your HDD of your Panasonic DVD recorder to it's DVD-RAM
disc. Make sure you have initallized your machine with ReadDVD by
installing and restarting (a royal PIA as my G4 won't read DVD-R's
when this is installed and you have to run a terminal de-installer
to remove it) so your UDF DVD-RAM disc is recognized by the machine(DVD_RAM
drive required). Then demux your .VOR file with MPEG2 Works with
AC3 option selected. You now have dvd burnable files for your Mac
converted from your Panasonic DVD recorder! THANK YOU SERBIAN. |
